Movie Express (15/04/12)
This week Conor and Luke watched MANDRILL a Chilean martial arts/espionage film about a super smooth assassin and his idol star of the silver screen and (by no coincidence) a super cool assassin John Colt. There's flips and shooting and middle-aged henchmen who turn out to be the best and it's all great! The Australian Film season continues with Red Hill, a High Noon inspired horror/action flick set in Nowhere, Australia or, if you prefer Red Hill. Table time sees Luke wax lyrical about Kids on the Slope and Legend of Grimrock, the show also features some discussion of the Shadowrun kickstarter project.
Movie Express (09/04/12)
The Australian Film Season kicks off in style with a Rob Sitch double-bill, The Castle and The Dish. Both films are funny, emotive and flawlessly executed. Conor and Luke hope you enjoy them as much as Luke enjoys Schoko Bons, until next time!
Movie Express (02/04/12)
This week it's a looser show all round, as Conor and Luke deviate from the show outline to discuss (at length) the development of Sean Connery's unique laugh. The Horror Season wraps up with John Landis' gory, practical-effect masterpiece An American Werewolf in London. We also talk about Act of Valor, co-directed by Mike McCoy and Scott Waugh. Table Time this week is all about the return of Mad Men! Conor also tells us about Michel Hazanavicius' pre-Artist outing OSS 117 Cairo, Nest of Spies. Look forward to our brand new season next week, as we explore the Cinema of Australia, first up The Castle!
Movie Express – Jekyll and Hyde Special Part 2
This week Luke talks a little more on the subject of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde as he takes in two Hammer Horror adaptations of varying quality. The Two Faces of Dr Jekyll and Dr Jekyll and Sister Hyde. The Horror Season keeps rolling with Rogue, a creature-feature set in the Australian outback. Table Time sees some comic book discussion as Conor and Luke gush about the luxuries and convenience of owning tablet computing devices. Star Trek!!!!
Movie Express – Jekyll and Hyde Special Part 1
Conor and Luke go in depth on Jekyll and Hyde: the novel, the movies, the TV series. In this, the first of a two-part special. Let us know how you feel about Jekyll and Hyde. Leave a comment or send an email about your favourite adaptation!
Movie Express (04/03/12)
The Horror season takes a week off as Conor and Luke engage in some extended table time action. Join Bizarro Luke and Conor as they discuss the bad (and excellent) aspects of The Muppets, the mafioso-out-of-water Lilyhammer and Disney's latest science-fantasy blockbuster John Carter.
Read and watch along at home and prepare for next episode's Jekyll and Hyde spectacular.
Cheerfully Inaccurate
Of course Andrew Stanton directed Wall-E and Finding Nemo. Luke was confused with all the commotion. O!
Movie Express (25/02/12)
This week Conor and Luke check out Gareth Evan's The Raid, a masterfully executed martial arts thriller from Indonesia which reunites Evans and Merantau star Iko Uwais. This week also sees a special guest appearance from Sesame Street's own The Cookie Monster!
