We take a look at Sherlock Holmes this week, via The Private Life Of Sherlock Holmes and Young Sherlock Holmes. The noir season this week features two-fisted, hard-boiled, punch-you-in-the-face-and-steal-your-cigarettes Where The Sidewalk Ends, by Otto Preminger. Table Time once again sees Conor and Luke bravely venturing out into non-movie areas of pop culture, with Luke talking about the Desktop Dungeons pc game, and Conor talking about the Captain Alatriste series of novels. Question time is short and sharp…

Luke’s favourite ice cream is not in fact pistachio. He was simply panicked when Conor suddenly asked him that question, and said the first flavour he could think of.

Love the show – I always take a tea break when you boys have one!

  2. Dudebros

Right on, it warms the heart of the Dudebros to see this kind of civilized response to our break times. Far too many of our listeners are off “chasing the horse”, or “doing the pots”, or “doobying the smokes” during our breaks.*

*Disclaimer: Some or all of this street lingo may be inaccurate or made up, as the Dudebros have limited and carefully regulated exposure to reality.

I don’t feel so very lonely anymore now that somebody else is posting comments. Hi Denise.

Where the Sidewalk Ends sounds like a cool movie. I will search it out.

Currently awaiting the arrival of Where the sidewalk ends and wondering about pistachio ice cream. The human brain being what it is I started to think about the weirdest ice cream I ever had. Sesame ice cream in Hong Kong. That was a very strange texture and taste.

Hope you like Where The Sidewalk Ends! Wow. Never had Sesame flavour ice cream. I’ve occasionally made ill-advised mixes with ice cream, putting stuff into the ice cream that I then regretted, but mostly I’ve lived a simple blameless life in frozen sweetness terms.

Did you know that Conan Doyle’s obsession with spritualism etc came after the death of his son in WWI. He was desperate to get back in touch with him. Movinig.
